I just heard about this one today and I love it!!
We all have artistic and creative friends, right? Get them to pitch in without spending too much money! One family sold Christmas cards. Each card is handmade. Have 10 friends make 50 cards of their one design. Put all ten cards together to make a set. Sell them for $25 a set and you have made $1,000! Tip: Take orders ahead of time so you have all the sets sold before you are friends even get started making them! Good luck! (submitted by Kathy Jo)

Idea: Spring Seedlings Sale

We did this fundraising when we were paperchasing for our Lilianna in China. It was a huge success! It is a lot of work but lots of fun too! Get the whole family involved and have fun with it!
First, we purchased a paper pot maker for $13. (http://www.seedandgarden.com/store/product/paper-potmaker-1030.cfm) We bought a nice seed starter mix from our local gardening store. (Shop around for the best price! or try to get it donated!) Then we obtained tons of FREE plant trays from local grocery stores, Home Depots and Walmarts (after they stocked their shelves with plants).
It was so easy to use the pot maker. We took turns making hundreds of pots. As we practiced, we could make about 75 pots in an hour! We filled the pots with the soil mix and planted the seeds. We had started planting in March and April and had trays of pots all over the house (we live in chilly Maine) ... in sunny windows, on shelves and card tables under shop lights, etc. Then we moved them all to an outdoor 10 x 10' plastic greenhouse we puchased on eBay for about $100.
We made and sold about 700 seedlings that spring! Plus had plenty for our own garden. We had veggies, annuals and perennials and sold them for $3/plant or two for $5. We netted about $1200.

M&M Minis Fundraiser
One fundraiser we did that actually made us over $1000 was the M&M Minis Fundraiser! We went to our local convenience store and ordered 3 cases of the M&M Minis in the LARGE (1.94oz) tubes. There are 24 tubes in a case. We got them at a discount so they wound up costing us about 75 cents per tube. (Sometimes you can find deals online too, but you need to factor in shipping). So, 72 tubes cost us about $54.00 We gave the 74 tubes of M&M Minis away to folks at yard sales and also to family and friends and asked them to eat the M&Ms and then fill the tubes with their spare quarters until the tube was full.
We put a note on the tube with our son's picture and some info about our adoption. We put our phone number and asked each person to either return the tubes to us or call us and we would pick them up. Each tube holds about $20 in quarters!! This went over so big it surprised us!! People got to play a sort of game... collecting quarters! Kids LOVED it! Dad's loved it too... throwing their quarters in something at the end of each workday..... It was a hit! Not everyone returned the tubes, of course, but what we got back and after taking our the $54, we did make a little over $1000!! It is also a fun way for your own family to save $$!! Have the kids, neices, nephews, cousins, etc. look around the house for quarters! It is fun and they feel good doing good. Good Luck!
